As computer hardware evolves, RAM technology also continues to improve. Many users upgrading their systems often wonder: Can DDR4 and DDR5 RAM be used at the same time?
While both have 288 pins, their designs and electrical layouts are entirely different.
Because of these differences, DDR4 and DDR5 slots are not interchangeable. A DDR4 motherboard cannot accept DDR5 RAM, and vice versa.
Even if physically possible, the memory controller in the CPU only supports one DDR standard at a time. Mixing them would cause system instability or prevent booting entirely.
