Wrestleview recently had an opportunity to ask WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry a few questions courtesy of the predictions market experts at casino.org/us.
Henry gave us his insight on his top three heels in pro wrestling and what works for them:
Right now, I think Dominik [Mysterio] is great. AEW-wise, Maxwell Jacob Friedman is also great. I would also say that Fatal Influence are great villains. They’ve definitely entered the chat when it comes to people not liking them.
All you’ve got to do is listen as soon as one of them grabs the microphone. The crowd immediately boos. They don’t even want to hear them talk. That’s my top three heels right now in pro wrestling.
On what makes the former AEW World Champion MJF’s role work so well within the company, Henry noted:
He makes no apologies, and he’s a tough guy that can do all the roles. He can be good; he can be bad. There’s no limit to where you can put him. And anytime you have somebody valuable like that, everybody will give a damn about him and pay attention.
On who he thinks the main star is in pro wrestling right now, whether its WWE, AEW or TNA:
I don’t think Cody Rhodes or CM Punk are WWE’s biggest attraction. I think Roman is in the driver’s seat as the main star. He’s championship material. I’d also put Brock or Oba Femi ahead of Punk and Cody, but I would definitely put Roman at the top of the pile.
In speaking directly to casino.org/us, Henry offered his thoughts on Sami Zayn’s 9-day run as the Undisputed WWE Champion and his views on the company putting the championship on CM Punk after his return from being absent for a few months.
On if thinks it was the right call by WWE to take the Undisputed Championship off Sami Zayn after just 9-days:
I thought that it was the wrong decision. The trigger was pulled too soon. I would have liked for him to call for his rematch clause and dress up like Santa Claus and just go to the ring and be a character. Be a little different the way that he has been over the last year or so. But yeah, I think they took it from him too soon, and I wish that they could go backwards and get him back as champion.
To see both of those guys go to war and it end the way that it did didn’t disappoint me, but I just wondered why so soon? I don’t want to feel that way with Roman and Seth, and that worries me. I want it to be longer. I want them to stretch it out and have good stories told before you get to WrestleMania. But they’re story needs at least one more PLE.
I think they maybe sacrificed Zayn to get Punk at SummerSlam but everything is a sacrifice in wrestling. It’s not uncommon for two wrestlers not to get along. They’re always arguing about others getting more opportunities than them, and I think more of that is gonna come straight after SummerSlam.
I think they see Punk as a star. He’s an unbelievable talent with a lot of upsides still. You look at the match that he had with Sami Zayn, you look at the match he had with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, the man has no weakness. We always need to see that version of CM Punk. I want to see him more in WWE, not less.
On if he thinks Punk really deserved to go straight back to the top and if WWE should have built him after returning from his absence before giving him the Undisputed title.
I don’t know if you have to bring somebody back that’s already established, but they’ve still got to show up and produce. The pressure is always on, and I think that’s what has happened. The cream just rose to the top.
But that doesn’t mean Sami is any less valuable. It’s just a matter of timing. He’s now established himself. He’s had his breakout moment, and now it’s someone else’s turn to step up and make that leap. That’s just how wrestling works.
Following his storied run in WWE, Henry signed with AEW as a coach and as part of the broadcast team for AEW Rampage, appearing for the company from 2021 until his deal finished in May 2024. He signed a WWE Legends deal with back in March 2025, which includes new Mattel action figures.
