Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez spoke about Chelsea Green’s injury on the August 10 episode of The Wrestling Observer Radio.
Green confirmed on social media this past weekend, that she broke her orbital bone on Friday’s SmackDown in a match where she teamed up with Tiffany Stratton in a match against the Women’s Tag Team Champions – Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henely and Lainey Reed. Green reportedly broke the bone after taking a rolling encore.
Meltzer noted that it is expected WWE could provide more information in a couple of days on Green’s injury and is unclear what the company will do – if Green will wear a protective mask or if WWE will have Green vacate the title.
Alvarez added that he has heard those within wrestling say the Rolling Encoring is ‘not a good finish…”
Green won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam Night Two in a ladder match. She was introduced as the new Women’s Champion during last Friday’s episode of SmackDown, even wearing a shirt that said ‘Permanent Champion.’
