Baron Corbin is the new WWE United States Champion.
Corbin defeated Trick Williams at the second night of SummerSlam, to become the new champion. Williams initially won the title after beating Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42.
Below is an excerpt from Roy Nemer’s WWE SummerSlam recap of how the title change went down.
Corbin goes for a splash onto Trick but Trick moves out of the way and Trick with a neck breaker. Trick with a spinning kick followed by the Book End. He goes for the cover but Corbin kicks out. Trick lifts Corbin up on his shoulders but Corbin with a rake to the eyes. Corbin to the ropes but Lil Yachty hits him with the kendo stick and the referee is distracted. Trick goes for the cover but Corbin kicks out. Trick runs towards Corbin but Corbin with a big boot. He goes for End of Days, Trick lands on his feet and Trick with a kick to the face. He goes for the cover but Corbin kicks out. Corbin rolls onto the ring apron, Trick grabs Corbin but Corbin hangs him up on the top rope. Corbin to the outside and he grabs the United States Championship. He gets on the ring apron but Lil Yachty grabs the title and he gets on the ring apron. Trick hits Corbin and he hits Lil Yachty who falls through the table on the outside of the ring. Corbin hits Trick with the United States title with the referee distracted. Corbin with the End of Days. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Corbin returned to WWE back on the July 10 episode of SmackDown, targeting the United States Championship. Corbin left WWE in November 2024 after it was announced that his contract was not being renewed, thus ending his 12-year run with the company. After his release, he went on to wrestle for Major League Wrestling as Bishop Dyer, where he was one half of the promotion’s tag team champions with Donovan Dijak. This past June, the promotion stripped him of the title over contract disputes.
