During a recent interview with FOX News Digital on the topic of pro wrestling, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield), called AEW’s ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey and Josh Alexander, ‘incredible.’
“I saw ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey in AEW, who is just an incredible talent. Josh Alexander’s the same.”
Alexander is out of action after undergoing knee following an injury he suffered during the Collision TV taping that took place back on March 18, 2026. The match aired on March 21.
Layfield also spoke highly of Will Allday, who is an independent talent in Texas, saying how he fires up the fans each time he makes an appearance.
“I watched him down there. Every time he walks out, he ignites the local crowd – to my knowledge, no TV experience. I think there’s a lot of young talent.”
Also during the interview, Layfield noted he sees more talent now than when wrestling had its boom period during the mid to late 1990’s, adding the independents have a lot to do with the number of wrestlers out there today.
“I’ve never seen more talent in all over wrestling. Back when we had the Attitude Era, we had a really loaded roster. WCW had a really loaded roster. The independents didn’t have a loaded roster. They just kinda picked and choose. Now, you go to these independent shows and these guys are fantastic. I guess it’s the training. It’s the amount of schools they have. The amount of learning that they can get. You look at now for wrestling, there’s so much freaking talent, and it’s so freaking deep. It’s unbelievable the place the business is in right now.”
