The May 2026 DWI case against Joseph Hennig (former WWE talent Curtis Axel) had ended with a plea agreement which was reached in August.
Hennig was initially facing multiple charges following his arrest this past May for the DWI incident at a McDonald’s in Anoka County, Minnesota. Court records show that a plea agreement was submitted on August 24. Hennig entered a guilty plea for misdemeanor charges of DWI and disorderly conduct. The charges of refusing to submit to chemical testing and interfering with a peace officer, were all dismissed.
According to the agreement, should Hennig follow through on the stipulations, he will not have to serve any additional jail time. In addition, he was given a 90-day sentence, with 87 of the days being stayed and three credited for time served. Hennig will be under supervised probation for the next year with the possibility of becoming unsupervised after five months. Furthermore, Hennig must remain a law-abiding and show good behavior, with no alcohol, drug-related offenses or assaultive/violent/disorderly/threatening behavior.

Back on May 19, 2026, local police were dispatched to a McDonald’s in St. Francis shortly before 9:00 pm local time due to a property damage crash in which a vehicle backed into another vehicle in the drive-thru. Police found Hennig slowly navigating the parking lot and smelling strongly of alcohol with bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech and an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle.
Henning, who is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Curt Henning was released by WWE in 2020 after a 13 year tenure. The company re-hired him in 2022 as a producer, but then let him go three months later. He also wrestled under the name of Michael McGillicutty.
