Pro Wrestling legend Ken Patera suffers broken neck

Steve Stasiak at Book Pro Wrestlers on Facebook, has shared that pro wrestling legend and former Olympian Ken Patera had a fall in a gym that resulted in a broken C1.

The news was also shared by the Professional Wrestling in the 1980’s and 1990’s Facebook page.

Patera wrestled in Japan, the AWA and in the WWF/E. Patera is the second-ever WWF/E Intercontinental Champion. Patera competed in the first-ever Survivor Series, which took place on November 26, 1987 at the Richfield Coliseum in Richfield Township, Ohio.

At that Survivor Series, Patera was on the team that consisted of Hulk Hogan, Bam Bam Bigelow, Paul Orndorff and Don Muraco. They lost to the team of André the Giant, Butch Reed, King Kong Bundy, One Man Gang and Rick Rude.

Patera represented the United States at the 1972 Olympics in weightlifting and also, at one point was a successful strongman competitor.
