In a new mini-documentary focusing on Bayley’s match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the former WWE Women’s Champion talked about what stepping into Madison Square Garden means to her, and what makes the bout against Lyra Valkyria different given her career at the time:
It’s a big moment for both of us. Just to wrestle inside the Garden, perform inside of the Garden is obviously like bucket list for a lot of performers. Whether you’re in sports, or you’re a musician, or you’re in the WWE — yeah, it’s a big deal anytime you get to be a part of it. I’ve been doing this for so long and I’ve wrestled in the Garden multiple times — a really good amount of times, thankfully.
But this one just feels different. I think the time and the stage I am in my career right now, I feel like I’m taking a further look back at everything, or seeing it from a different view and knowing my place in this business and knowing my worth in this business. And Lyra’s going to find out the hard way, let’s just say that.
Valkyria ulimately defeated Bayley at the event, raising questions on the latter’s status within the company.
Some have speculated that Bayley could be gone from television until her contract situation is resolved, something further fueled by changes in the upcoming SummerSlam week tryouts as Ivy Nile has seemingly replaced her.
She did, however, work the house show loop in California last week with triple threat matches against Valkyria and Sol Ruca.
